INTERPRETING
The L&T team’s interpreters come from such reputable institutions as Bath, Bradford, Heidelberg, ESIT and ISIT. The experienced team provide interpreting services in areas ranging from economics, IT, finance, law, environment, and telecommunications, as well as in their field of primary expertise, rail transport.
Languages: English, French and German. Qualified freelance interpreters are also employed on an ad hoc basis for other languages.
Forms of interpretation offered:
Simultaneous: Delegates follow discussions in real time through headphones. Interpreters work in pairs in sound-proof booths, changing over every thirty minutes. Simultaneous interpretation is ideally suited to meetings and conferences with a large number of delegates.
Consecutive: The interpreter sits in the meeting and takes notes before translating out loud what a speaker has said into another language. Consecutive interpretation is suitable for official speeches, expert meetings or negotiations and technical visits.
Chuchotage (whispering): the interpreter sits near their delegate/s (maximum two people), and whispers the proceedings of a meeting to them, as well as translating out loud their interventions into the language of the meeting when necessary.
